Remains of Burlington man missing since 2020 found

A Burlington man who had been missing since the summer of 2020 has been located, according to a release from Chief Adam Schaefer of the Burlington Police Department.

The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner has positively identified the human remains were found in Burlington on March 7 as that of Troy Daugherty, 54 of Burlington. Daugherty had been reported as a missing person to the Burlington Police Department on July 14, 2020.

The cause of death is still being investigated by the Burlington Police Department, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner.

Results of the autopsy and toxicology are still pending, the release said. No additional information will be released at this time.
