Jude Law and Sienna Miller were the ‘it couple’ when they met in 2003, and their chemistry was off the charts. A year after meeting, the pair were engaged and fans across the globe thought it’d last forever. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
The former celebrity couple met on the set of the 2003 movie Alfie, and it felt like a scene from Jude Law’s The Holiday when they became engaged during Christmas 2004. However, one big mistake from the Fantastic Beasts actor ruined the magical relationship that could’ve been.
Jude Law had an affair with the Nanny in 2005
Unfortunately, a year after the engagement, things came crashing down when British tabloids reported the actor had an affair with his children’s nanny, Daisy Wright.
Wright went to The Sunday Mirror with the story, even handing over detailed excerpts of her diary.
Hearts broke around the globe that day, but fans were still holding onto hope for Hollywood‘s ‘it couple’. Until a few days later, when Jude released a public apology, expressing his “sheer regret”.
“Following the reports in today’s papers, I just want to say I am deeply ashamed and upset that I’ve hurt Sienna and the people most close to us,” the 32-year-old at the time told the British Press Association.
“I want to publicly apologize to Sienna and our respective families for the pain that I have caused,” he continued, before concluding: “There is no defense for my actions which I sincerely regret and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time.”
The Nanny, who was 26 at the time, is said to have been hired by Jude’s ex-wife, Sadie Frost. As per the stories, the two met in New Orleans whilst the star was filming All the King’s Men.
Law and Frost were married from 1997 to 2003, and have three children together. Sons Rafferty and Rudy, and daughter Iris.
Four years after the bombshell affair, it’s said Law and Miller rekindled to give things another go. However, once again, it didn’t work out, and they went their separate ways in 2011. This time, it was for good.
Sienna Miller opened up 15 years later
At the time of Jude Law’s affair with the Nanny, the American Sniper star was just 23 years old. Although she was devastated and ‘humiliated’ she carried on with work for the sake of her career.
She stayed silent at the time, but in 2020, 15 years after the betrayal, Sienna opened up, calling it “the most challenging moment” she’d ever experienced.
“That was one of the most challenging moments I hope I’ll ever have to experience,” she told The Daily Beast.
“Because with that level of public heartbreak, to have to get out of a bed let alone stand in front of 800 people every night, it’s just the last thing you want to do,” she recalled.
Cut to the present day, and the 41-year-old is happy with her 27-year-old boyfriend, Oli Green. The two are now expecting their first child together.
Since her breakup with Jude, the star also gave birth to daughter Marlowe in 2012, with her ex Tom Sturridge.
She then spoke about the difficulties of the ‘paparazzi madness’ in London, “They knew where I would be every night.”
